Mamposteado Rice Recipe

Mamposteado rice (Mamposteao) is a recipe that has become very popular, especially in Puerto Rico, and is currently widely sold in restaurants and Puerto Rican food establishments. Mamposteao rice is made up of a delicious mixture of white rice, stewed beans, cilantro and ham that come together to obtain a delicious dish.

Recipe for 3 to 4 people

Ingredients

  • 4-5 cloves of garlic, chopped or crushed
  • cilantro to taste
  • salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste (optional)
  • 1/2 cup chopped ham
  • 4 cups of cooked white rice
  • 1 and 1/2 cups of stewed beans in the color of your preference
  • 3 tablespoons of oil of your choice

Procedures

In a non-stick container, add the oil, when it is hot, add the ham, sauté it until it is well cooked, then add the garlic and stir it until it is translucent, then add the salt, black pepper and mix everything very well.

To continue, add half of the cilantro to the container (you can make a mixture of parsley and cilantro), now add the cooked rice and sauté it until it is well mixed with all the ingredients.

Once everything is well mixed, add the beans and mix until the rice is completely mixed with the beans, mix for a few more minutes without letting it stick, add the remaining cilantro and serve the portions on a plate, accompany it with whatever you want and enjoy that delicacy.

Additional notes

If you like your rice wetter, you can add more beans to your liking.

A suggestion to accompany this delicious dish could be some fried ripe banana or some green plantain tostones, accompanied by a slice of ripe avocado and a good steak with onions on the side.

This rice is tastier if the rice and beans you use are from the previous day.
